Sea Kayaking
We will explore by sea kayak along Australia’s tropical Great Barrier Reef coast.
Our first sea kayaking destination is the Whitsunday Group, a stretch of islands giving new meaning to the term “paradise”.
Here we will learn paddling skills as we kayak from island to island, and learn “leave no trace” camping on the delicate and beautiful coast.
Snorkeling and swimming to view hard and soft corals will be encouraged! We will also have an opportunity to do a service project with local volunteers in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park .
Hiking
Hiking activities will allow the group to become familiar with land ecology of Australia. The Great Dividing Range is like the ‘Appalachians of Australia’, and the many trails to spectacular summits are ideal hiking tracks to test our boots and new natural history knowledge!

Whitsundays and Hichinbrook
Our next destination is further north at Hinchinbrook Island, on the coast of Queensland. Here the group will have the choice between paddling or hiking the coast alongside its mountains. This area is unique—cascading waterfalls and deep cut creeks meet the sea, with unique wildlife and rainforest. This is where you can expect natural crystal-clear pools to swim in!
